Man remanded for slashing farmer's forehead
Akim Oda (E/R), May 4, GNA – A magistrate court in Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, on Friday remanded a 37-year-old farmer from Akim Akplaku village into police custody for causing unlawful harm.
Kwasi Aboagye pleaded not guilty to causing unlawful harm. He would re appear before the presiding judge, Mr. Albert Owusu Annor, on May 10.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah stated that the complainant, Mr. Isaac Donkor and Mr. Kwadwo Larbi , the accused person, are all cocoa farmers who live in Akim Akplaku and Breku villages near Akim Gyaha respectively.
He said on April 13, this year at about 19:30 hours, a misunderstanding ensued between one Madam Akosua Acheampong, who is a principal witness in the case, and Aboagye, over a poultry fowl which had strayed onto the compound of Aboagye.
Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said Aboagye confronted Madam Acheampong for accusing him of being a thief and therefore threatened to fight her and even destroy her cocoa drying mat.
He stated that Mr. Larbi who chanced on the quarrel, try to talk Aboagye out of the confrontation while one Benjamin Abeka, Aboagye's friend, who also emerged at the scene rather encouraged Aboagye to fight.
Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said as a result, Aboagye rushed to his house and returned with a sharp cutlass and slashed Mr. Larbi's forehead.
He stated that Mr Larbi bled profusely and passed out. He was then rushed to the Kade Government Hospital and was admitted while Aboagye was handed over to the Police
