Stabbed pregnant mother dies

Kumasi, May 4, GNA – The 26-year-old pregnant mother who was critically wounded by her heartless

husband at Sepe-Timpom, a suburb of Kumasi on Wednesday, after he had stabbed to death their two little

daughters under strange circumstances, is reported dead.

Yaa Oforiwaah, carrying a four-month pregnancy, admitted at the Accident and Emergency Centre of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Mr Ernest Abban, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the hospital, confirmed the death to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said it happened at about 0615 hours on Thursday.

He said a team of medical officers had successfully performed a surgery on her and transferred her to the C4 Ward, when she suddenly suffered a relapse.

She was rushed back to the theatre but did not survive.

The body has been deposited at the KATH mortuary for autopsy.

Oforiwaa had been in a relationship with Kwadwo Yeboah, 27, for some time now and had two daughters aged one-and-a-half and four years.

They lived in different houses, few metres apart.
Yeboah, unemployed, and said to be a notorious drug addict, was alleged to have visited the wife on

Wednesday in her house, locked themselves in a room and savagely attacked the woman and the two little

girls, Ama Francisca, and Adwoa Adwubi with a knife.

The children with gushing intestines died from their wounds but the mother survived.

She was said to have feigned dead after Yeboah drove a knife through her abdomen and was later rushed to the hospital.

Yeboah is on the run, and the police and the youth in the community have mounted a massive manhunt to bring him to justice.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation and expressions of anger, grief and pain among the local population.
