NPP eyes Asawase, Ejura seats

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Asawase constituency, Nana Okyere Tawiah Antwi, has given the assurance that, come December 7, 2012, the Asawase parliamentary seat would revert to the NPP.
The aspirant told a rally of NPP supporters at Bekwai on May Day that he had worked to ensure that the NPP takes over the seat, and that he would win the seat if elections are held today.
He debunked claims that the Asawase constituency was the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and therefore, a no-go area for the NPP.
According to him, the Asawase constituency has an Akan population of about 23,000 against 6,000 Moslems who are not wholly NDC sympathisers.
The aspirant noted that voting was based on the nationality of constituents and not on tribal lines, and that once the Asawase constituents are Ghanaians, their welfare should be well catered for by the government, through programmes and social interventions.
He has vowed to work hard to provide the needed development to improve upon the lot of the constituents.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Bamba, who is vying for the Ejura seat on the ticket of NPP, has also affirmed that he would annex the seat the NDC has dominated for years.
He told the rally, amid cheers, that in spite of violence associated with the registration exercise, the NPP would carry the day at the elections.
