Murdered American Investor’s Pal Pops Up
A CONFIDANT of the American investor Timothy Masley, 50, who media reports claim died under mysterious circumstances, has said his friend was killed.
The confidant and partner of the deceased American gold merchant did not mince words when he said his friend was due to testify in a case in court involving one Paul Norbi, a Ghanaian who has been arrested and caged in connection with the murder.
Four persons are in police custody over the murder, two prostitutes, Paul Norbi and Justice Julius Nutakor, driver of Timothy and a former driver of Paul, the prime suspect.
Timothy Masley died alongside his Ghanaian friend Barron Acquaye, 48, who was very instrumental in the arrest of Paul for selling a gold concession belonging to Timothy somewhere in the Ashanti region about a year ago.
However, the confidant expressed grave worry over the fact that the alleged killer's wife one Jennifer, who he suspected might have an insight to the assassination plot has since not been interrogated by the police.
Timothy Masley, 50 and Barron Acquaye, 48 died in a rented apartment at the Bojo beach at Kokrobite under bizarre circumstances.
Information available to DAILY GUIDE indicates that the prime suspect in the case, Paul Norbi was a friend of the deceased persons but his relationship with the two went sour due to a misunderstanding.
Paul had allegedly sold a gold concession of Kobjac Mining and Exploration Ghana Limited which belonged to Timothy and his partners to a Chinese company by name Jacos Mining and Exploration Limited.
Paul Norbi became a minor shareholder in Jacos with no power to act on behalf of the company.
Paul was said to have sold the company at the price of GH¢1 million and took the amount without the knowledge of the owners.
Barron, who got to know about the crime, informed Timothy about the sale of the concession three weeks prior to their untimely death.
Timothy, after being armed with the information, flew into the country and reported the matter to the Accra Regional Police Headquarters where investigations into the matter begun.
Subsequently, Paul was arrested and later bailed.
He was charged with the offence and was due to appear before court somewhere Monday April 16, 2012.
It is therefore suspected that Paul might have plotted the killing of the two in order to destroy evidence against him.
Timothy, according to his partner, was a witness in the case.
Tim's confidant feared Barron had to die with his friend for the role he played in having Paul arrested.
'Paul was playing tricks on the police so Barron arranged a meeting with him that he was bringing a female gold merchant to buy some concession. However, Barron took the police to arrest Paul,' said the source.
Timothy's family in the USA has reportedly given out snippets of information about the autopsy report which suggested that the duo suffered heart stoppage due to poisoning.
However a source close to the Homicide Unit at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters which is handling the murder aspect of the case said the autopsy report gave systemic congestion as the cause of death, adding that a detailed report of the cause of death would be released later to the police.
Timothy and Barron once spotted Paul and his wife at the police station in April at about 4pm. The two later died at Bojo beach where Timothy was said to have rented an apartment for a year.
