Women urged to keep in shape after birth

Accra, April 30, GNA - Mrs. Dzigbordi Boateng, a General Nurse at the G.A Boateng Pharmacy in Accra at the weekend appealed to women to keep in shape and be attractive before and after birth.

“It amazes me how most beautiful women refuse to take good care of their bodies after marriage and mostly after birth”, she said.

Mrs. Boateng made this observation at a trip organized by the women's wing of the Kaneshie-Kasoa Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the theme, “Let's go fishing” in Accra.

She said most marriages had not seen the light of the day because the women "become a burden at home for their husbands, since they refuse to be cautious of their apparels, hair and body and, also living their homes in total shambles".

Mrs. Boateng added that some married women competed with their husbands because of their working positions and educational background, but said it was wrong and ungodly for a woman to challenge her husband on such grounds.

“It is not a woman's business to dictate or challenge her husband because she earns fat salaries. No matter a woman's position in society, she has to be submissive and polite to all men, especially to her husband”, she said.

She said some women after marriage became tigresses and barking bitches in their homes, stressing that such attitudes had the tendencies of driving husbands out of their homes.

Dr Julius Agbezudor of the Wellness Centre who spoke on health related issues, cautioned the general public to be cautious of the things they ate, since it had the tendency of taking them to their grave.

He said most Ghanaians had developed a habit of eating anything they laid their hands on, stressing that the trend could only be reversed if people took absolute responsibility of the diet by ensuring that foods taken contained the required nutrients for effective body nourishment.

Dr Agbezudor cautioned pregnant women to be cautious of their diet, since their condition exposed them to several medical abnormalities.

The program aimed at rejuvenating the less active women, also had lime and spoon, football, sack race and a fashion show as part of scheduled activities.
