Dr Nduom begins nationwide tour from Central Region

Accra, April 28, GNA - Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Flagbearer of Progressive People's Party (PPP), began a nation-wide tour with an address to the chiefs and people of Gomoa Nyanyano, Awutu Senya Beraku and Apam, in the Central Region.

A statement issued by Mr Richmond Keelson, Communication Director of PPP and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said he began from Gomoa Nyanyano where the place was set agog with leading members of the party.

Many residents gathered at vantage points across the street to welcome him amid drumming and dancing. An enthusiastic crowd also gathered at Kasoa Junction while some of them followed him all the way to Gomoa Nyanyano.

Dr Nana Obeng Wiabo V, Odikro and Ohyehene of Gomoa State, welcoming Dr Nduom said the chiefs and people in the area as well as Ghanaians had experienced governance of all the political parties in the country and aware of what they could offer.

He said it was time for Ghanaians to try another party for the nation to progress steadily.

“We have tasted water and wine and have decided that we need a change, I mean a totally different party with a different package to implement new and different policies for us as a nation to develop,” he stressed.

Dr Wiabo pledged the commitment of his people to give Dr Nduom the needed support to enable him succeed in his quest to become the next President of Ghana.

He expressed appreciation to Dr Nduom for beginning his tour in the area saying “This shows you really have our community at heart.”

Dr Wiabo commended Dr Nduom for the manner he was conducting his campaign and urged the party activists to emulate him.

“PPP should learn to use decent language in order not to cause any political tension in the country. This advice is not for Dr Nduom because we all know he is a disciplined man, but his sympathisers and supporters to use decent language in order not to cause any problem for him, the party or the country as a whole,” he advised.

Dr Wiabo appealed to Dr Nduom to make the plight of orphans and children suffering from all kinds of illness his priority to secure their future.

“It saddens my heart to see children with their parents begging,” he added.

Dr Nduom said he began his nationwide tour from the area because it had many things in common with his native town, Elmina, particularly fishing.

He stated that PPP was ready for the challenge to manage affairs of the nation and urged Ghanaians to have confidence in the party and vote massively for him on December 7.

Dr Nduom called for an end to the use of intemperate language, politics of insults and gave the assurance that PPP would continue to ensure a clean campaign to maintain peace and order in the country.

“As for us in the PPP, we understand politics and know what the game is about so we will always tell Ghanaians about what we will do to bring development to the country rather than promote hate speech,” he assured.

Touching on what the PPP will do when given the mandate, Dr Nduom promised to institute a policy to ensure that education from Kindergarten to Senior High School (SHS) was free, build more schools and teachers bungalows as well as give teachers the salaries they deserved to facilitate his agenda.

On health, Dr Nduom stated that his main priority would be improving the sanitation problem in the country to reduce malaria.

He asked the people to discard the notion that a vote for the PPP was a wasted vote, adding that the party had come to salvage Ghanaians from the difficulties and hardship bestowed on them by the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party.

Dr Nduom addressed the leadership of the fishing community at a durbar.

He went to Awutu Senya Beraku, his ancestral hometown, where he briefly met his family, chief of the town and later addressed a durbar.

The first phase of the Central Regional tour ended at Apam, although it was deep into the night, the chiefs and people of the town waited patiently for Dr Ndoum and his team.

Addressing the people, Dr Nduom assured them that a PPP Government would fight hard to improve education and the fishing industry, the main occupation of the people of Apam.
