The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo has commended the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for initiating development projects in the metropolis as part of efforts to achieve the 'Better Ghana' Agenda of the Mills administration.

The AMA is currently constructing a drain at the Kantamato Market Square to prevent flooding and a new machine has been installed in the Korle Lagoon to clean the water to save the fish.

28 kilometers of roads and four kilometers of storm drains have been constructed in Abelekuma South.

These were made known when the regional minister, who doubles as Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpone-Katamanso, in the company of the Mayor of Accra, Dr. Alfred Vanderpuye and AMA staff inspected projects in the metropolis.

As part of efforts to provide every child with quality education to end the shift system, AMA has constructed 18 classroom blocks, a science labortray, conference hall and library in parts of the city.

The minister urged the people to stop dumping garbage in the gutters and maintain the drains.

Construction of 25 public toilets is progressing steadily at Ayawaso Central and the regional minister commissioned 25 public toilets during the tour.

AMA has engaged the services of waste contractors to gather refuse within the sub-metropolis.

The minister said the AMA boss and his team will deliver a good job for the people of Ghana.

He said it takes people with love and vision to develop their areas and   lauded the Chief Executive of the AMA and his team for working hard to realize the Better Ghana agenda.

He urged people living in the city to appreciate the efforts of the Assembly and promised to support the AMA during his tenure.

The Mayor also pledged to complete all the projects before the end of this year.
