Forum For Hypocrisy

Until speakers for the political forum organized by the Forum For Governance and Justice (FGJ) took turns to address the subject of intemperate language, doubts about the partisan inclination of the grouping remained a concealed fact.

While some saw the grouping as an ordinary non-governmental organization genuinely obsessed with contributing towards a decent political course, devoid of all the bad things which mar a democracy, others thought otherwise; this school of thought was vindicated last Tuesday when hypocrisy was in full flight at the forum.

Dr. Clement A. Apaak, the man behind the forum, can only draw satisfaction from the financial proceeds the programme bestowed upon him. As for the moral proceeds, there were none as these were covered by the avalanche of hypocrisy spewed by the ilk of Kwesi Pratt Jnr and others whose names evoke everything hatred on our political course.

The forum was one of the many opportunities offered Kwesi Pratt Jnr to play with the intelligence of Ghanaians and coming against the backdrop of the highly manipulated Kennedy Agyapong speech, the objective of those who provided the purse is most obvious.

In defending his choice of Kwesi Pratt as a speaker at the forum, the proprietor of FGJ, Dr. Apaak, left all who heard him in no doubt about his abetment of the dirty agenda of the NDC, especially at this time. He described the NDC apologist when he was hosted on a radio programme yesterday 'as a principled personality' who has contributed towards the development of the country.

We wonder if President Mills would acquiesce to such a mendacious testimonial. Many Ghanaians would also demur with such a testimonial and even wonder what formed the basis for the impression by a man who ordinarily passes for a sincere gentleman whose assessment should attract deference.

We wish to state here and now that the foregone testimonial is highly flawed and not representative of the truth. Kwesi Pratt, a known apologist of the NDC, whose pretentious attitude is household knowledge, is not the kind of person to be invited for such functions if the organizers are genuinely interested in sincerely working towards a moral goal. And regrettably, Dr. Apaak did not find anything wrong with the presentation as he preferred to gloat over its non-existent quality.

How do you invite people to engage in hate and vitriolic remarks and claim simultaneously and ironically that you intend to rid society of such speeches?

The deliberate lame attack on Justice Kpegah was a ruse to create the impression that Kwesi Pratt was after all balanced in his address.

Singling out the Kennedy Agyepong remark for attack and ignoring the attitude and bloodcurdling utterances of presidential aide Nii Lante Vanderpuye by Kwesi Pratt, not only exposed his true colours and those behind the programme, but also showed the extent to which stomach politics has contaminated our body-politic.

Have we forgotten so soon about hate publications authored by persons who are today holding council of state positions?
