Tamale, April 25, GNA - A group calling itself Positive Action Committee for Justice and Development (PACFJD) has appealed for calm and peace in Yendi following the recent disturbances that occurred during the enskinment of a chief in the area.
The group stated that their call represented a chance for factions involved in the Yendi chieftaincy dispute to resolve their differences through dialogue and pave the way for peace and development in the Dagbon state.
The PACFJD made the call in a press release jointly signed by Sheik S.M. Sibidow and Amadu Jemmoni, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the group, and issued to the GNA in Tamale on Wednesday.
The group also cautioned the media to be circumspect in their reportage on the Dagbon issue and “Avoid publishing statements or acts calculated to blackmail the Regional Security Committee (REGSEC) and keep Dagbon boiling with strife”.
In a related development, the Andani Royal Family also in a press release signed by Mr Baba Issifu, Secretary, condemned the violence that occurred in Yendi on Friday, April 20 and called on the law enforcement agencies to conduct investigations into the incident and bring to book the perpetrators of the acts of violence.
