Hearing on Edinamanhen's applications for bail adjourned till Tuesday
Cape Coast, April 23, GNA - A Cape Coast High Court on Monday, adjourned till Tuesday, April 24, the hearing of an application for bail filed by the counsel of Nana Kodwo Conduah VI, Paramount Chief of Edina Traditional Area.
Nana Conduah VI was jailed three months for contempt of court last week.
Mr Justice James Benson, the Presiding Judge had to stop the Counsel , Mr Ebow Dawson mid-way through his submission with the reason that there were inconsistencies in his submission, which he said, should have been based on his latest contempt ruling without referring to the earlier one made by the Supreme court.
Justice Benson further indicated that the arguments raised by the Respondent's Counsel was not in tune with his (Justice Benson's) ruling and therefore advised that he applied for that ruling at the end of the day and study it before making any further submissions for bail in the next adjourned date.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ato Amponsah Dadzie, counsel for the applicant, Supi George Asmah did not oppose the application for bail.
Justice Benson, on Monday, April 16 sentenced Nana Kodwo Conduah to three months imprisonment for flouting the court's order not to exercise the functions of a chief until a case brought against his enstoolment as a chief was finally determined by the appropriate authorities.
Nana Conduah was said to have received a donation from MTN in 2011 towards the Bakatue Festival of the Chiefs and People of Elmina.
