The 2012 Under 13 Milo African Champions from the Tamale SOS Village were met on arrival at the Tamale Airport by the Northern Regional Director of Education, Madam Elizabeth A. de-Souza, and her directors, as well as some students and teachers from some schools in the region.

After a brief interaction with the players, Madam de-Souza led the team to the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) to present the trophy to the Regional Minister, Mr. Moses Bukari Mabengba, and his deputy, Mr. San Nasamu Asabigi.

At the premises of NRCC, the Captain of the team, Master Sulemana Mohammed, handed the trophy to the Headmaster of the Tamale SOS Village, Daniel Baani, who passed it to Madam de-Souza, who then presented it to the Regional Minister. It was all joy and excitement.

Mr. Mabenbga congratulated the team for achieving such an enviable feat.

He said the SOS team had made not only the school, but also the region and Ghana, proud by winning such a keenly contested tournament. He pledged to support the team to attain greater heights.

As a token of appreciation for their efforts, the Regional Minister presented GH¢1,000 to the players for refreshment.

The team beat South Africa by 4-0 to lift the ultimate prize at the finals.

Six juvenile teams from South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ghana battled for the continental honours in the second edition of the Milo U-13 Championship at the El-Wak Stadium, Accra, on April 12 and 13.
