Jilted Bismark killed his lover and poisoned himself A 25-year-old man who felt jilted by his lover did the unthinkable last Wednesday, when he allegedly forced acid down the throat of the girlfriend, leading to her instant death.
The man, identified only as Bismark, did not end there: He went a step further to drink poison and died shortly by the side of his girlfriend.
Sources from the Komfo-Eku community in the Shama District in the Western Region, where the incident occurred, were of the belief that the action of the young man might have been informed by the fact that the woman, identified as Abiba, 22, decided to end the relationship due to a series of quarrels.
According to the sources, the man moved from Tarkwa some months ago and rented a room at Komfo-Eku ostensibly to be close to his girlfriend.
They said since Bismark’s arrival in the town, Abiba had been a regular visitor to his apartment.
The sources said for sometime, the couple had been having series of quarrels, which compelled the woman to relocate to Supo-Dunkwao, also in the Shama District.
They said since then Abiba had not been regularly visiting Bismark.
Bismark, they said, later visited Abiba at her new settlement and asked her to return for her belongings.
According to the sources, Abiba returned to Komfo-Eku on Wednesday and nothing was heard of the couple until they were discovered dead at about 6 pm.
The police are currently trying to contact the families of the two as Bismark wrote down some telephone numbers of relatives on a piece of paper that was found beside him.
