HARARE (AFP) - At least 21 people were killed Monday when a speeding bus overturned in southern Zimbabwe, state radio reported.

The bus had been travelling towards Beitbridge, a town on the border with South Africa, when the accident happened around 2:00 am.

The radio quoted witnesses as saying that the driver, who died at the scene of the crash, had been speeding and failed to negotiate a curve.

Accidents are common in Zimbabwe because of roads which have been neglected for years and are riddled with crater-like potholes.
