Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, today received an overwhelming endorsement from the rank and file of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) to become the party’s first ever-flag bearer.

This was done by all paid up, card-carrying members in all 230 constituencies across the country simultaneously.

Elated Dr Nduom, wearing a PPP branded shirt was driven in a convoy of PPP decorated pickups vehicles to Sukura in the Ablekuma Central Constituency in Accra where he told the members that “something different is going happen to Ghana politics in 2012”

He likened the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the biblical Goliath who would be conquered by PPP, which is the David and also the third force of the Ghanaians politics.

He told the jubilating PPP members who were also wearing PPP T-shirt and other paraphernalia that the party abounds with inter peace, it was also purposeful and would not therefore join the bad wagon of political debates of insult and personality attacks while the ordinary Ghanian continue to wallow in abject poverty.

“We are happy with how far we have come, with PPP in the scene, the NDC and the NPP can no longer take Ghanaians for granted by all means one of them would be automatically elected to lead the country”, he added.

Dr Nduom said the PPP would offer concrete and pragmatic solutions to the problem of unemployment, school drops out after Junior High School, power outages and reliable wages and salaries for the Ghanaian worker.

He explained that Ghanaian would reject both the NDC and the NPP for the simple reason that they had been voting these two parties into power since the inception of the Fourth Republic “ but they do not feel what the the NDC and the NPP claim they have done”.

Dr Nduom who was the 2008 Presidential Candidate for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) advised the youth of the PPP to respect the views of people from different political parties and not to engage in quarrels and politics of insult because that was not Ghanaians were yearning for.

He reiterated his call on Ghanian electorate not to vote for political parties but rather scrutinise the flag bearers who would become the executive president to check if they have been able to succourfully taken good care of their immediate families, businesses and other positions have held before voting.

According to Mr Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, the National Secretary of the PPP, the party was a new party formed by like-minded men and women from all over the country, who wanted a very focused, vibrant, independent-minded and progressive political movement to contest the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He confirmed that the PPP was not seeking, or did it desire a partnership, alliance or an electoral pact with the NDC or the NPP but was an independent party that would fight its own battles to get to Parliament and the Flagstaff House.

“The PPP is bent on providing incorruptible leadership and an opportunity to implement an agenda for change that is built on four pillars - Stewardship, Education, Healthcare and Jobs. We will implement the agenda using the spirit of inclusiveness that will enable us to use the best Ghanaians; full participation of women and the youth; and above all, a leadership that is incorruptible. By dealing with corruption, we can double government revenue which we will use to pay for our transformational initiatives in education, healthcare and job creation”.
