Ensure that this Easter is accident free - Supt Aduhene

Cape Coast, April 05, GNA - Superintendent Paul Aduhene, the commander of the Central Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) on Thursday cautioned drivers to be careful on the roads and give due attention to pedestrians during the Easter festivities.

He said to ensure an accident free Easter his outfit was going to increase its patrol team on the roads to control the massive vehicular movement in the region.

Superintendent Aduhene gave the caution in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Cape Coast.

He said within three months the region recorded a total of 326 crashes which involved 252 commercial vehicles, 140 private vehicles and 31 motor bikes.

He said within the same period 46 fatalities were recorded of which 61 people lost their lives whiles 383 sustained various degree of injuries and that 87 pedestrians were also knocked down .

He advised Christians who organize vehicles for their church activities such as Easter Conventions, picnics and crusades not to overload them and ensure that such vehicles were road worthy.
