Jilted Lover Stabs Girlfriend 17 Times

A 22-year-old female student of the Takoradi Polytechnic is battling for her life at a hospital at Kwesimintsim after she was allegedly stabbed 16 times by a jealous boyfriend.

The jilted lover, Isaac Kojo Asare, 27, allegedly accused the victim of depleting his bank account and jilting him afterwards.

The suspect, who is the manager of an export company in Takoradi, was overcome by jealousy when he saw his girlfriend in the arms of another man at 10:30 pm.

The suspect, currently in police custody, told the police he could not contain the change in the attitude of his girlfriend who he had planned to marry.

According to the police, the suspect laid ambush for the victim, Ms Ruth Agyei Tuffuor, near her house and attacked her, after seeing her locked in the arms of her new-found lover.

The suspect told the police that he loved the girl to the extent that he allowed her access to his bank account.

The suspect was said to have gone to the residence of the victim at Anaji, but did not meet her in the house.

Asare told the police he suspected that his girlfriend had gone out with another lover.

He then left quickly for his house to arm himself with a kitchen knife and wait patiently for the two lovers at Anaji.

Asare was said to have waited till about 10:30 pm when the victim and the supposed lover emerged before he attacked her.

The police said while people struggled to rush the girl to a nearby hospital at Kwesimintsim, Asare bolted and later reported himself to the police.

Meanwhile the police are still investigating the case.
