By Japan - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

TOKYO, Japan, March 29, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Japan is deeply concerned about the military clashes in the border region on the Sudan and South Sudan and escalation of tension between the two countries.

Japan calls on both governments of Sudan and South Sudan to make the maximum restrains and to continue their efforts to resolve the disputed issues not by military means, but by peaceful means. Furthermore, it also calls on the both governments to observe and steadily implement the agreements they have already reached on border demarcations, security measures on the border area and Abyei issues.

Japan also welcomes the provisional agreements achieved through the negotiation between the two countries and urges the both governments to hold the summit meeting on April 3 as scheduled.
