27.03.2012 LISTEN

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspiring Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region Mr. Williams Affum Ani-Adjei popularly known as Obama, has cautioned members of the party and community members not to register twice in the ongoing Biometric Voter Registration.

He noted that, those who have it at the back of their minds to register twice will be made to face the full rigors of the law irrespective of the political party the person belongs to.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Al-Hajj in Accra, the aspiring MP appealed to the constituents to come out in their numbers to register adding that “those who want the NDC to retain power should not involve in double registration in the current biometric voter registration which took-off last Saturday.

He cautioned traders, businessmen and women not to register in the constituency if they know they don't reside there.

He also advised foreigners who are also residing in the area to desist from getting registered if they also know they're not qualified Ghanaian voters.

Mr. William Affum alias “Obama” took the opportunity to warn all trouble makers and people who will avail themselves to be 'used' by political parties in the biometric voter registration and the elections as well to be mindful of the consequence of their actions.

Mr. Obama was very optimistic of taking back the seat for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) come the December polls.

He said a lot have been said about the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Sheikh I.C. Quaye in previous elections but knowing who the man I.C Quaye was, he said he is well prepared.

He was not perturbed by threat from the opposition NPP to incite violence but said “we will not fight but we will slap when you slap”.

Mr. Nii Afu who represented the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the collation center during the 2008 general elections indicated that what transpired during tabulation in 2008 was that there was a deliberate attempt by the NPP to increase the figures in favor of their candidates adding that this will not happen with the new biometric voter register.

He appealed to the people of the Ayawaso Central to be vigilant to ensure that the right things are done before, during and after the biometric voter registrations exercise.
