The project was funded through contributions made by the Akyem-Abuakwa Presbytery Catechist Wives Union of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) to inculcate discipline in children. Commissioning the project, the chairperson of the Akyem-Abuakwa Presbytery of the PCG, Rev.D.O Boapea said quality education is a priority of the church, and commended the Union for their support in that direction to make pre-school education accessible to deprived communities.

He urged the women to give support in diverse ways to enhance the well being of the people in such communities, and pledged financial support of the Presbytery in the second phase of the project. The DCE of the Kwaebibrem District, Mr.Yaw Boakye-Yiadom expressed concern about the attitude of some parents who distract children's education by asking them to help them on the farms.

He noted that to improve education in the area, the Assembly has provided mono-desks for all JSS in the district.
