Education Minister, Lee Ocran says Senior High Schools in the Upper East Region facing closure due to a delay in the release of government funds due them, may have to wait a while longer.

The regional Conference of Assisted Senior Secondary Schools (CHASS) had threatened to shut down the affected schools within one week because some suppliers of food stuffs and other logistics had suspended their supplies because they were owed them huge sums.

The Education Minister however urged CHASS to be patient, assuring them the funds were to be released Wednesday.

But National CHASS President, Samuel Adjei says the promise was not fulfilled.

The Education Minister however explains that the government has been unable to release the funds because the Finance Minister, who was part of President Mills' delegation to the United States where he met with President Barack Obama, was yet to return.
