Association of Oil marketing companies working to ensure safety

A combined team of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs) is examining the location of gas service stations across the country towards insuring industrial safety.

Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Duah, AOMCs Industry Coordinator, who told the Ghana News Agency in an interview, said the AOMC would collaborate with the relevant regulatory authorities, including the NPA, Environmental Protection Agency, Security Services and Ghana Revenue Authority, to enforce strict adherence to industrial safety requirements.

He, therefore, announced that the AOMC had fixed the end of the first quarter of this year to publish accredited oil marketing companies in good standing for business this year.

Mr Agyemang-Duah said though it was not mandatory for all oil marketing companies to join the Association, members stood to benefit from corporate recognition because of its high standards of operation.

He said: “The Association will continue to intensify its national programme to promote the interest of its members and bodies engaged as marketers of petroleum products to ensure that the public enjoy good services.

“We will continue to ensure the development and practice of safety, healthy and environmentally acceptable professional petroleum industry practices.”

He said the Association would ensure that members act with integrity, probity, accountability and transparency in the pursuit of their business objectives by ensuring strict compliance with all the laws of the country, non-engagement in adulteration and the maintenance of quality standards and responsibility to customers.

He said the Association would continue to create an enabling environment for fruitful engagement between it and all the major stakeholders in the oil industry.
