The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court has jailed Amakye Duah, a 28 year-old petty trader, who teamed up with one Eric Boakye, now at large, to rob one Nana Boahemaa of her belongings at Ohwim Junction in Kumasi, to a 15 year jail term .
The police prosecution, led by Madam Afia Dansowaa, last Tuesday, told his Lordship Justice William Boampong that on May 4, 2011, at about 5.55 a.m., the complainant was robbed of her bag which contained a pair of ladies pants, cash of GH¢1,000, one perfume worth ¢30, a pair of ladies slippers, and two mobile phones valued at ¢80.
Amakye Duah, who was arrested upon police investigations and charged with stealing, however, told the court that the complainant's bag contained only GH¢280, and not GH¢1,000 as she claimed.
Upon cross examination, the accused person, who pleaded guilty of the offence, was consequently handed 15 years imprisonment in hard labour.
