New Vision Royal Company Limited solicits for government support

By GNA

Nakong (UE), Feb. 28, GNA- New Vision Royal Company Limited, a Sheanut buying Company has appealed to the government to support its operations in order to produce quality shea-butter and link the products to the international market.

The Communication Director of the Company, Mr Godwin Narh made the call at the close of a five day trainer of trainers' workshop for 13 women and two men drawn from the West Mamprusi District in the Northern Region to produce grade “A” sheabutter” for the global market.

New Vision Royal Company which was established three years ago at Nakong in the Kessena-Nankana West of the Upper East Region has so far trained more than 400 people in producing high quality sheabutter.

The course beneficiaries are producing sheabutter lotion, sheabutter cube and liquid soap, Moringer soap and black soap.

“Much as we applaud government for setting up a sheabutter processing plant at Buipe in the Northern Region we will also like to use this occasion to appeal to government to take critical look at making more funds available to organisations like New Vision Royal Company Limited to help it train the thousands of women who are still using old methods and knowledge in the production of sheabutter,” the Communication Director said.

Mr Narh explained that most women in the sheabutter industry could not get good returns for their products because they fell short of the standards on the market.

He indicated that if government make funds available to the factory, it could train more people and install machines that would serve as poles of development in communities in the North, since the sheanut industry had become key on the government agenda.

He indicated that the 15 persons who had received capacity building training in producing high quality shea butter would in turn train more than 120 women.

“The second phase of the training programme which is targeted at training the women to produce the various value added products such as sheabutter lotions and soap making... will come off soon.”

Mr Narh said in addition, the Company has sheabutter centres at Tongo and Zuarungu in the Upper East Region while plans are far advanced for the establishment of three centres at Bole in the Northern Region.

He appealed to the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority and donor agencies to come to the aid of his outfit in making the sheabutter industry more vibrant.

Mr Joseph Ayamga, a director at the company commended the National Youth Employment Programme for partnering the corporate entity to implement some of its projects, saying it had helped in engaging the teaming unemployed youth in the area.
