Kumasi, Feb. 28, GNA – Mr Samuel Kwabena Danso, former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has called on the Nkrumahist parties to merge into a single political party to fight for power in this year's elections.
He said if they choose to go their individual ways it would be difficult for any of them to win the December presidential and parliamentary elections adding that they would only be conceding political power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Danso made the call in an interview with the GNA in Kumasi.
He said there should be no difficulty for the CPP, the Peoples' Convention Party (PNC), and the Progressive Peoples' Party (PPP), formed on the ideals and principles espoused by Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, to come together to become more formidable.
He appealed to the leadership of the three parties to move quickly and without preconditions to make this happen.
Mr Danso appealed to all Ghanaians to give the Electoral Commission (EC) the needed support in the biometric voters' registration exercise and help to make it a big success.
