Kotoko Maintain Lead

Kumasi Asante Kotoko maintained their recent wining form when they defeated Liberty Professionals 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday.

It was their second streak win after winning on foreign soil against Medeama SC to restart the league last two Sundays. Yesterday's win, Kotoko's second in  less than two months, thus placed them in a comfortable position on the summit with 37 points.

Brilliant midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei grabbed the opener in the 59th minute after countless attempts at goal, especially in the first half, by the Kotoko attack.

Liberty, placed ninth with 22 points, fought tirelessly to redeem the slender lead but goalkeeper Isaac Amoako and the rear stifled the visitors' attempts.

Former Liberty/ Lions striker Kofi Nti Boakye probed to make it double in many occasions but failed in his attempt until defender Yaw Frimpong set Michael Mensah up with a through pass a minute to end the game.

The results of the Hearts Bechem United game was not available at press time.

Meanwhile, Mighty Jets host Lions today at the Accra Stadium. The game was rescheduled to make way for Dr Paa Kwasi Nduom's Progressive People's Party (PPP) rally at the Stadium last Saturday.
