Youth urged to fight for excellence in life

New Abirem (E/R), Feb 26, GNA - The Chief Executive Officer of Legacy and Legacy Spring Board Road Show Foundation (SRF), Mr Albert Ocran has called on the country's youth to be respectful, discipline and fight for excellence in all their endeavours.

He advised the youth to serve diligently in whatever position they found themselves in to enable them rise to the top.

Mr Ocran was speaking at the sixth edition of the Spring Board Road Show at New Abirem in the Birim North District under the theme: “Promoting Excellence through Innovation and Technology”, which was sponsored by Newmont Ghana Gold Limited for stakeholders in its Akyem project area.

He said Newmont sponsoring the sixth edition of the programme showed its commitment to add value to the human resource of communities in which they operate.

Mr Ocran advised students of the New Abirem/Afosu Senior High School (SHS) to be discipline, respectful, truthful, God fearing and also read wide and attend classes regularly to enable them pass their examinations to further their education.

Mr Michael Heneku, the Executive Director of the Beige Hotel, said only 50,000 out of the nation's 500,000 SHS students population undertook their master's program at the various universities with 150,000 of them undertaking undergraduate programme. This means that 300,000 of them could not further their education.

The Chief of New Abirem, Nana Kwesi Amoh Kyeretwie, who chaired the function, advised the youth to avoid immoral lifestyle and concentrate on their studies to succeed in life.
