The Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has stated that the recent attacks on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and some leading members of the party were given the green light by President John Evans Atta-Mills.

According to the NPP man, an NDC document in his possession titled "Agenda 2012” has exposed President Mills as a man who preaches against character assassination and politics of insults and turns round to urge his surrogates to do otherwise.

In an exclusive interview with the New Statesman, the NPP man quoted from paragraph 3 page 8 of the document authored by Dr A.A Kontor, Prof S.M Quartey and Prof Afful who describe themselves as an “Atta-Mills loyalist team of intellectual patriots” to buttress his point.

“Ghanaians are fed up with the cocaine stigma NDC communicators attach to Nana Addo Danduah Akuffo[sic] Addo. The propaganda machinery should cook-up new and better selling, negative messages about NPP flag bearer. Attacking his running mate is also important.

The propaganda machinery should prepare adequately to smear them especially after the name is declared by the flag bearer; ridicule the running mate, make comparisons with the vice president JOHN MAHAMA. Discredit the decision by NANA ADDO through fine negative stories,” the document reads, according to Mr Dompreh.

The NPP man stated that it was therefore not surprising that last week alone “we have seen this evil tactic being manifested through the sponsorship of false publications to tarnish the image of Nana Akufo-Addo.”

Mr Annoh-Dompreh maintained that President Mills gave the go-ahead for these scurrilous attacks on Nana Addo to be launched, indicating that the content of report stated that “Recommendations will be made to Atta Mills, John Mahama, Asiedu Nketia and Kwabena Adjei.”

These recommendations, according to Mr Dompreh, were carried out by the rented NDC Press and fabrication of dirty lies engineers based at the Castle on the explicit command of President Mills.

Turning his attention to the recent attempts by Koku Anyidoho and Richard Quashigah to impugn complicity by Kennedy Agyapong in the infamous MV Benjamin saga, the NPP man stated that this was a diversionary attempt by the NDC.

Page 10 of the document, according to Mr Annoh Dompreh, contained a section titled “Shutting up the barking dog” which detailed plans to stop Kennedy Agyapong and getting him busy with unnecessary things and dividing his attention from the Woyome saga.

“Among the measures recommended by the group to President Mills included linking Kennedy Agyapong to the MV Benjain cocaine case and also force him to declare the source of his wealth, so as to make the public chastise him”, the NPP man added.

The first attack, Mr Dompreh explained, still quoting from the document, was to come in the print under the heading,  “The limping man names Kennedy Agyapong and associate” intended to make him retreat and coil back into his shell to stop him from attacking and rather put him in a defensive position.

Mr Dompreh added, “The communication team, according to the document, was tasked to target him and do everything possible to frustrate him and make him uncomfortable so he will surrender”.
