The deputy head of the Commercial Crimes Unit of the Police CID, DSP Gifty Mawuenyegah Tehoda, who is at the center of the cocaine swap scandal has been granted bail.

Judge Amoako Asante said continuously detaining the top female officer is an infringement on her right and granted her bail in the sum of GhC100,000 with two sureties.

She was not in court physically when her bail application was granted on Tuesday and it is, however, unclear whether she will be set free this time around.

This is the third time the embattled police woman has been granted bail – the first for 'unlawful detention' and on the second occasion for an 'alien' charge preferred against her.

DSP Tehoda has been in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations since December 29 for the alleged role she played in the cocaine-turned-baking soda scandal.
