Let's move forward in the Spirit of God

Accra, Feb 13, GNA – Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, has urged Christians to move forward in the Spirit of the Lord, to ensure a just and peaceful society.

Speaking at a Thanks-giving Service to mark the first anniversary of Cedar Mountain Chapel (CMC) of the Assemblies of God Ghana, International Church East at Legon over the weekend, Mr Ampofo reminded Christians that issues of environmental concern, including cleanliness and sanitation should attract their attention.

The event whose theme was “Forward in the Spirit,” coincided with the commissioning of a GHc30,000 ultra modern Washroom for use by the congregation.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo who unveiled the plaque to commission the facility, said it was worthy to note that the construction of the washroom buttressed the commitment of the Church and its leadership to address the basic hygiene needs of the congregation.

“The absence of sanitation facilities predisposes our people to health hazards through such unhealthy practices as open defecation,” he emphasized.

The Guest of Honour pointed out that good hygiene was a necessary ingredient for enhanced productivity because, in his view, a hygienic environment promoted healthy living.

On Politics, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo who is also the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Tema West, said Ghanaians should not look at Politics negatively, but rather be mindful that Politics as a human endeavour, “is positively geared towards providing societal needs.”

“We must endeavour to live in peace with one another, and work to ensure there is peace in our communities, and in the nation, without which we cannot go about our duties successfully.”

He, therefore, implored Ghanaians to pray unceasingly for divine intervention to ensure a peaceful election in December.

Earlier in a Sermon, The Reverend Gregg Johnson, of the Global Leadership Training in the United States, urged Christians to lead prayerful lives, in order to accomplish the Word of God here on earth.

The Rev Stephen Wengam, Lead Pastor of CMC, said the vision of CMC was to become a cutting edge 21st century Church, excelling in Worship, raising leaders and disciples, as well as providing leadership in all human endeavours.

Rev Wengam said the core values of the Church were: Worship; Passionate Proclamation; Spirit of Excellence; Leadership and Integrity, among others.

The Church later presented the Local Government Minister who was the Guest of Honour, with a Plaque whose citation commended him for being a good Christian-Politician.
