NASPA CLEARS AWAY GARGANTUAN REFUSE DUMP IN WENCHI

The National Service Personnel in Wenchi last Saturday undertook a dawn trotting to rejuvenate their bodies. The exuberant personnel did not go home to rest after the dawn trotting but together with their executives they matched to Jensusu, a suburb of Wenchi, to clear a heap of garbage dump which was making the area insalubrious to reside.

When the executives were asked why they chose that site for the exercise, their president, Mr. Obed Ofori Bangdome (who doubles as the regional NASPA president), responded that : “Majority of the pupils of St. Paul's Anglican School use this site as their path for school every day”. He added that: “I have witnessed some of the pupils in the kindergarten coming here to play during break time. And the worse of it all is that the Anglican priest, who teaches at the JHS, resides just few metres away”.

The twenty personnel who turned up for the exercise worked diligently from 6:00am to 8:00 am.

Mr. Ofori later used the medium to appeal to the government to speedy up the process of paying the 20% increment in their service allowance. He cited that: “I believe our morale will go up when we see the government pay the increments he has promised”.

He thanked the personnel who turned up and Mr. Abdallah AO-Adams, the Municipal ZoomLion Co-ordinator for providing them with cleaning materials.
