Nsuta (Ash), Feb. 2, GNA – Mr Ransford Cofie, Sekyere Central District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has appealed to politicians to accept to play by the rules of fairness and tolerance to make the December polls peaceful.

They should act with civility and roundly condemn aberrant conduct on the part of their members and supporters.

Mr Cofie said Ghanaians must accept the responsibility of protecting the peace, unity and cohesion of the nation, during and after the elections.

Mr Cofie made the appeal while inaugurating a 22-member district inter-party dialogue committee at Nsuta in the Ashanti Region.

The members are expected to help to resolve conflicts among the various political parties and provide the platform for effective engagement.

The NCCE Director noted that the country has achieved enviable record in democratic governance and it is therefore imperative for the citizenry to help sustain it.

He encouraged the members to work hard and as a team to ensure violence free elections in the area.

The committee is made up of representatives from the political parties, the NCCE, the district assembly, traditional and religious leaders and the security agencies.
