Akrofoso (Ash), Feb. 1, GNA - Yonso Project, a community-based organization (CBO) spearheading educational development in rural areas, has built a library at Akrofoso in the Sekyere Afram Plains District.

The GH¢ 20,000 facility is to help inculcate in pupils and students in the area the reading habit.

The library is stocked with variety of books on science, English language, mathematics, social studies, geography, health and other literature.

Handing over the library at a ceremony at Akrofoso, Mr Kwabena Danso, the Project's Country Director, said adopting good reading habit could significantly help school children to improve on their academic performance.

It would also help them to broaden their outlook.
He said it was therefore important for educational authorities to place premium on the promotion of reading, particularly at the basic level.

Mr Danso gave the assurance that his organization would continue to support deprived communities with the needed education facilities.

Mr Samuel Asiamah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), praised the organization for the good job it was doing to complement government's education development effort.
