Q: It was reported that a Chinese company was attacked in Sudan. Please brief us on that.
A: On the afternoon of January 28, Beijing time, the project site of a Chinese company in Sudan's South Kordofan state was attacked by local militants and some Chinese nationals have gone missing.
Following the incident, the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Sudan immediately launched the emergency mechanism. The Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry urgently summoned the chargé d'affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in China and urged the Sudanese side to actively engage in the search-and-rescue operation while ensuring the safety of the Chinese nationals. At present, the Sudanese Government is sparing no efforts to search for and rescue the missing Chinese nationals and has enhanced security measures on Chinese personnel and projects in Sudan.
