Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Dr Mustafa Ahmed, out-going Deputy Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, has pledged to work hard to justify the overwhelming confidence reposed in him during the Ayawaso Constituency delegates' conference of National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr Ahmed, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area was re-elected for Election 2012.
He said people in the constituency should work hard to play a significant role in the overall victory of the NDC in the December 7 polls.
Dr Ahmed noted that Election 2012 would be an important year of Ghana's democracy and the NDC's power base would be consolidated because President John Evans Atta Mills would surely win.
He said the common enemy of NDC is the New Patriotic Party, hence the need for party faithful “to chase the elephant more deeply into the bush in 2012 by coming out in their numbers to participate in the biometric registration and to vote massively for the NDC”.
Expressing appreciation to the delegates for his re-election at Nima and Accra Newtown, he said, the NDC had always believed that elections were won or lost at the branch levels and assured members and supporters of the party that everything possible would be done to inspire them to step-up their mobilisation force for the impending biometric registration and the elections.
“I will make myself available to the wards and branches every month and constituency every three months, for deliberation in order to move the party forward to win the General Election,” he stressed.
Dr Ahmed offered a hand of friendship to the contestants, who lost in the constituency primary, asking for their support and ideas to win more votes.
“We are in this year's elections together, we are not winners and losers of the true sense of the word.”
Mr Mohammed Gaddafi, an NDC activist said:“Let us organise ourselves and galvanise support for the NDC to win Election 2012 and also commit our time in the campaign of Dr Ahmed for him to be retained as our MP.”
