Kodie (Ash), Jan 30, GNA – Mr Ignatius Mwinbe Ere-Der, the Afigya-Kwbre District Education Director, has tasked headteachers to ensure prudent use of the Capitation Grant.
The money, he said, should go into minor repairs of school furniture, recreational facilities and provision of teaching and learning materials.
Mr Ere-Der made the call at a ceremony held to distribute 1,000 dual desks provided by the Ministry of Education to various basic schools in the district at Kodie.
He asked the school heads to make sure that the furniture was properly handled.
Mr Ere-Der appealed to school authorities to avoid absenteeism and collaborate with the communities and promote teaching and learning.
Mr Kwaku Kaakyire Oppong-Kyekyeku, District Chief Executive, appealed to teachers to work hard to improve the academic performance of school children.
He said the assembly would build new classrooms at Aduamoa, Ankaase, Kyekyewere and Tetrem this year.
