Melodious Voices of Volta to represent VR in National Choral Music competition

Ho, Jan. 30, GNA - Ho based Melodious Voices of Volta has emerged winners of Volta Region's Choral Music Festival to represent the region for a national competition in March this year.

It beats seven other choirs for the coveted title which came with a GHc1,000 prize.

The event was under the auspices of the Ghana Tourist Authority (GTA) aimed at promoting cultural music tourism.

Following from the 2nd to the 8th position were the St Cecilia Church Choir Ho-Dome, Christ the King Cathedral Choir-Akatsi, Amenuveve E.P Church Choir, Christ the King Church Choir-Sokode, Buem Senior High School Choir, Kpando Senior High School Choir and St. Joseph Choir-Nkwanta.

Mr Kwame Gyasi, Volta Regional Manager of GTA, commended the choirs for the response and urged them to continue to showcase the rich culture of the nation.

Mr Joseph Amenoworde, Volta Regional Minister in a speech read on his behalf, underscored the need for the country to use what it has to market its tourism potentials.

He was optimistic that the country's basic cultural values and musical heritage could attract huge number of tourists into the country and urged the GTA to use the choral festival to boost the nation's tourism potentials.
