Krowor MP wins primaries
Accra, Jan. 28, GNA – Mr Quaye Kumah, the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament (MP) for Krowor, defeated three other contestants in the party's Greater Accra parliamentary primaries, on Saturday in Accra.
He had 152 votes, Mrs Agnes Naa Momo Lartey polled 120 votes, Mr Daniel Saforo Opare had 3 votes and Mr Joseph Mensah polled 7 votes.
The delegates, who were clad in NDC colours, were excited as the incumbent was declared winner by the Electoral Commission official, chanted and jumped amidst drumming and dancing.
The elections started peacefully at mid-day amidst tight security, and ended at around 1315 hours.
Mr Kumah praised God for making him victorious and commended the delegates for electing him to contest the 2012 parliamentary polls.
He said he had brought development to the constituency and appealed to party members to work hard for victory in the General Election.
The MP commended his opponents for conceding defeat, and asked party supporters to unite to enable the NDC to defeat the New Patriotic Party in Election 2012.
Mr Opare said the results of the polls clearly indicated that democracy had prevailed and that the delegates had spoken.
