Chiefs of Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo commends government' for arrest of Johnson Kombian
Accra, Jan. 27, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District have commended government for its role in the arrest and jailing of Johnson Kombian, a notorious criminal in October, 2011.
They also showed appreciation to government for its timely support to victims of Nakpanduri in the district, who were affected by the security operation aimed at arresting Kombian, ending in the killing of two police personnel.
A delegation of traditional rulers from the district made this known when they paid a courtesy call on Dr Benjamin Kumbour, the out-going Minister of Interior in Accra on Friday.
Naa David Kansuk, Paramount Chief of Nakpanduri and the Leader of the delegation said there is now peace and unity among the people of the area after the arrest of Kombian.
He expressed his condolence to families of the two policemen who died during the security operation, describing the incident as “very painful”.
He called on government to inaugurate the newly constructed police station to help facilitate security in the area.
Dr Kumbour commended the people of Nakpanduri for their support in helping to re-arrest Kombian.
He pledged government commitment to beef up security system in the community to ensure that such an incidence does not happen again.
