Sekondi, Jan. 21 GNA – The Western Naval Command has donated GH¢ 500 and food and educational items estimated at 2,000 Ghana Cedis to the Father's Home Care Ministries, an Orphanage at Sekondi.

Commodore Tim Appiah, Flag Officer of the Command, urged the children at the orphanage to be obedient and take their studies seriously to enable them to become useful citizens.

He commended the staff at the orphanage for the love and compassion they were showing the children.

Miss Rosemond Yamoah, Secretary of the Orphanage, said the institution seeks to build a sense of belonging among children particularly orphans adding that the ministry also assists vulnerable and needy children to acquire employable skills.

She said the ministry started in January 2001 with seven children but it now has 43 children including 13 non-resident children saying that the ministry would move to its children's village at Anto in the first quarter of the year.
