In pursuant to our very successful protest in front of the World Bank, Occupy Nigerian Movement Washington DC Chapter is organizing another solidarity march in support of the Nigerian People. Our demonstration and march is going to take place at both International Monetary Fund IMF buildings in Washington DC. We are rallying against the fly by night imposition of petroleum taxes on the regular and poor Nigerian people. Our demand includes the immediate rescinding of the petroleum prices back to 65 naira per liter. We urge the President Goodluck Jonathan administration to immediately focus on more pressing issues such as the pogrom by Boko Haram, corruption in all levels of governance, transparency, refurbishment of our refineries, unemployment, and poor health gradient.
It is unconscionable for the government and so-called economic team to acquiesce to the dictates of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to implement economic shock doctrine policies against the Nigerian people. We declare our fraternity and support for the “peaceful” Occupy Nigerian Movements, trade unions, students, and the general masses. We the members of the Nigerian Diaspora also demand the immediate resignations of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala the Minister of Finance (World Bank alum), Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Olusegun Aganga Minister of Trade and Investment (Goldman Sachs alum), and Mallam Lamido Sanusi Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (alum Barings Brothers/Bank). Occupy Nigeria DC also demands the immediate reductions of salaries, allowances, and bonuses of elected officials and political appointees by 50%. We ask the President Jonathan to conduct an introspection of his officials beginning with himself to identify the economic saboteurs and corruption peddlers within his administration. We reckon that we have more infiltrations in the Nigerian government than Boko Haram.
