Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland has received The Pride of Africa Award for the year 2011 for his exemplary leadership as the representative of the Ghana Government in the UK, and the Mission also awarded for best customer service.
The Ben TV Diplomatic Awards were presented to Professor Danso-Boafo at the Ghana Mission in London. Ben TV, a black and ethnic oriented, urban, diverse and cosmopolitan family channel, started the yearly diplomatic awards three years ago.
The Awards Team explained that the decision to award the High Commissioner and the Mission was reached after careful analysis of things like information relating to Ghana.
The Mission received the award for best customer service, cultural and economic diplomacy among other things. The High Commissioner on the other hand received "The Pride of Africa Award".
According to the team, they paid unannounced visits to the mission to "assessed customer service , display of promotional materials, easy access to the mission's services, easy accessibility and navigation on your website, cultural and economic diplomacy, how easy is it to get a visa and passport, how easy is it to establish a business in your country, etc."
The most important reason for the award, according to the team, is the efforts of the mission to sell Ghana's image abroad.
"The most important point that we took into consideration is how your mission is striving hard to sell the good image of Ghana abroad."
The citation concluded that, the award team was impressed by Ghana's stand at the World Trade Market which took place at the Excel Exhibition Centre in East London.
"The team was very much impressed with your elegant stand at the World Travel market in Excel London."
This year's event was under the theme: NO WOMAN SHOULD DIE WHILE GIVING LIFE
