Bekwai (Ash), Nov 30, GNA – New Edubiase F/C fought gallantly to bring Kumasi Asante Kotoko's unbeaten run in the Glo Premier League to an end with a 1-0 defeat of the Porcupine Warriors in their mid-week encounter at the Bekwai Gyamfi Park in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday.
Emmanuel Baffour emerged the hero of the day as his 32nd minute goal for the home team was all that that New Edubiase needed to carry away all the three maximum points.
The home team began the match on a good note, stringing good passes together in midfield and attack.
In one of their surging runs upfront, Edubiase forced Kotoko to concede a corner kick which was expertly taken by Edubiase's Ibrahim Moro for Baffour who was lurking in the goal area to rise above the defence to connect home the in-swinger to silence the teeming supporters of of the Porcupine Warriors.
In the second-half, Kotoko substituted Fatawu Mohammed for Nathaniel Asamoah whiles Michael Anaba replaced Nafui Iddrisu but the changes did little to transform their game plan as Edubiase's defence, pivoted around Iddrisu Yahaya and Abeiku Enison defended solidly to ensure victory.
Kotoko's Ahmed Toure came close to scoring in the 65th and 88th minutes but his shots missed the target narrowly to send his team home empty handed.
