SADA Needs Action, Not Seminars. Says Nana

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to redeem its promise to the people of the North by fully implementing the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) concept, rather than hiding behind seminars.

He said seminars would not bring any direct benefits to the beneficiaries of SADA, pointing out that what the people expected from government was action on SADA to help improve their livelihoods.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this in Wa when he interacted with community members and supporters of the NPP at Dondoli, a suburb of Wa, as part of his five-day tour of the Upper West Region to introduce to the people some of the programmes and policies the NPP intended to pursue when voted to power in 2012.

He said in 2008, when the NPP said it was going to establish a Northern Development Fund and Northern Development Authority, the NDC laughed at it but when they realised that the idea was strong, they also promised SADA. 'Three years down the line of NDC rule, have you seen anything meaningful about SADA? Nana Addo asked, adding, 'All we hear is seminars upon seminars. It is not seminars we want, we want action'.

Nana Akufo-Addo gave the assurance that the NPP would bring action to propel the development of the north if voted to power in the 2012 elections.

On education, Nana Akufo-Addo said it was the policy of the NPP to support all Ghanaian children to have access to quality education without discrimination.

'Education should not be a matter of money because if we make education a matter of money, only the rich would have access to education and that would not promote unity in Ghana,' Nana Addo pointed out.

The NPP would make it possible for every child to have access to free Senior High School education because 'our children should have decent education.

Nana Addo said young men and women were roaming the streets unemployed. Lamenting about the unemployment situation, he promised that the NPP would make jobs available for the youth if he was given the mandate.

Nana Akufo-Addo said the NPP would also empower and strengthen private enterprise base such as farmers, drivers, businessmen and women, among others, to create more jobs for the youth.

The NPP Presidential Candidate pleaded with the Muslims and other religious organisations to continue to pray for peace and unity of Ghana, and urged all to work towards making next year's election transparent, free and fair.

Nana Akufo-Addo paid similar courtesy calls on members of Tagrayiri, Jangbyiri, Kabanye and Charia communities in the Wa Municipality.
