Tax after tax President Mills has added to the yoke of the nation and finally broken the back of Ghanaians with scorpions.
Reminiscent of Rehoboam's reign after his father Solomon, the former ignored the advice of the wise men and followed after that of sycophants to his own dethronement. Having misjudged the temper and resolve of the people as well as his own abilities and power, he increased the burden of taxes beyond what the people could bear.
From annual tributes of subjects to burdensome colonial 'impôts' to a multiplicity of national taxes, Ghanaians are beginning to wonder if it was worth discovering the offshore oil resource let alone exploring it. And much as Ghana should be richer, hardly did anyone perceive it was rather going to come from taxes and not from oil revenues.
The conclusion of the whole matter is that, the presumption of leadership based on privilege not earned by serving livelihoods but on power from which adequate compensation is not derived by Ghanaians and which does not serve their interests, is always met by the Marseillaise of the people: 'What portion do we have in David?...'
