Half Assini, (W/R) Nov. 20, GNA - The Half Assini District Magistrate's Court in the Western Region has fined a Nigerian Fisherman GHȼ120 at Jewi Wharf for collecting money from a woman and failed to supply her fish.

Ufuomah Ariemah, 30, pleaded guilty and would go to prison for three months if he fails to pay the fine.

The court ordered him to pay back the GHȼ250.00, he collected from Madam Lucy Ackah, the complainant.

Prosecution Police Chief Inspector Paul K. Anaman told the court presided over by Mr Hans Kofi Kpogo in September, Madam Ackah, a fishmonger from Nuba, went to Jewi Wharf near Half Assini to buy fish.

The prosecution said the accused approached her and demanded GHȼ 250.00 to procure fishing materials.

He said the women refused to pay the money and returned to Nuba.

The prosecution said Ariemah followed the woman to Nuba and requested for the money with a promise to supply her fish.

Chief Inspector Anaman said the convict collected the money but failed to honour the promise.

He said on November 13, the woman reported the matter to the Half Assini where the fisherman was arrested.
