Nana Nanabanyin Ninsin-Imbeah II, the embattled Nifahene of the Mfantseman Council in the Ashanti Region and Mfantsehen of Anloga/Oforikrom in Kumasi, has resigned his position.
It follows an alleged raw deal handed him by the Nifa division of the Kumasi Traditional Council at an arbitration on October 9, 2011.
In a Notice of Abdication, issued on Saturday October 29, 2011, to all concerned people, and copied to the media, the chief said his decision was a function on the advice of his nuclear family, including his aged mother, Mrs. Isabella Victoria Imbeah, elder sister of the late Sally Mugabe, former first lady of Zimbabwe, as well as the good counsel of friends.
His resignation takes effect from Thursday October 27, 2011.
He pledged his willingness to pay any unsettled monies which need to be paid to the Mfantseman Council and Mfantse community at Anloga/Oforikrom, and return any items upon notice.
He, however, stated that he would gladly forfeit all monies due him, which were duly expended on behalf of the Mfantse community.
Nana Ninsin-Imbeah thanked all those who, in diverse ways, assisted him render selfless service to the Mfantse community in the Ashanti Region during his tenure of office.
He was nominated, sworn, and installed as the head of Anloga/Oforikrom on August 15, 2000, and by virtue of hard work and dedicated service, he was also installed Nifahen of the Mfantseman Council on May 2, 2006.
Nana Ninsin-Imbeah was fined an amount of GH¢400, in addition to seven sheep, on October 9, 2011, for daring to call for sanctions against former president Rawlings for his utterances during the June 4 rally in Kumasi, as was contained in a publication by THE PIONEER, a local newspaper of June 13, 2011, in which the Mfantse Nifahen had called for the suspension of former President Rawlings from the NDC functions for his utterances during the said rally.
The fine was imposed at a meeting convened by a panel of the Nifa division of the Kumasi Traditional Council to resolve an impasse between Nana Ninsin-Imbeah and head of the Mfantseman Council in Ashanti, Nana Akorful Owese.
Nana Ninsin-Imbeah has since apologised for the said publication openly, as requested by the panel of the Nifa Division of the KTC.
