PARIS (AFP) - Cameroon midfielder Alex Song played an instrumental part in Arsenal's stunning 5-3 fightback at Chelsea to add further proof that the Gunners' have put their woeful early season form behind them. Manchester City's Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure was on the scoresheet in the Premier League leaders' 3-1 win over Wolves.
In France Souleymane Camara was on target in Montpellier's 2-0 win over Nancy to keep his club in second behind leaders Paris Saint Germain.
ENGLAND
AYEGBENI YAKUBU (Blackburn)
The Nigeria striker scored his fourth goal of the season in Rovers' 3-3 draw at Norwich on Saturday. Yakubu struck with a fine effort from the edge of the area to put Blackburn 2-1 up in the 62nd minute. His second goal in successive matches wasn't enough to give struggling Blackburn a rare win though as Norwich scored twice in the last eight minutes to earn a draw that kept Steve Kean's team in the relegation zone.
CHRISTOPHER SAMBA (Blackburn)
The Congo defender got on the scoresheet for the second time this season as Blackburn were forced to settle for a 3-3 draw at Norwich on Saturday. When Samba headed home from Morten Gamst Pedersen's free-kick in the 64th minute it seemed certain Rovers would win for just the second time in the Premier League this season, but Norwich scored twice in the last eight minutes to salvage a point.
ALEX SONG (Arsenal)
The Cameroon midfielder provided the assist for Arsenal's equaliser as the Gunners fought back to secure a stunning 5-3 win at Chelsea on Saturday. Song's astute pass to Andre Santos picked out the Brazilian left-back in space and he drilled a shot past Petr Cech to make it 2-2. Song's efforts gave Arsenal a solid foundation to tear Chelsea's defence to shreds as Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick.
YAYA TOURE (Man City)
The Ivory Coast midfielder helped seal his side's 3-1 win over Wolves by creating the final goal for Adam Johnson at Eastlands on Saturday. Toure's pass allowed Johnson to fire home in the 90th minute as 10-man City saw off an obdurate Wolves side and maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
EMANUEL ADEBAYOR (Tottenham)
The Togo striker was in top form as Spurs beat QPR 3-1 at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Adebayor was too hot for the Rangers defence to handle and kept them on the back foot as Harry Redknapp's side moved into fifth place in the Premier League thanks to two goals from Gareth Bale and a clinical finish from Rafael van der Vaart.
FRANCE
RYAD BOUDEBOUZ (Sochaux)
The French-born Algerian international midfielder who played for the French under19s before switching to the North Africans, bagged Sochaux's equaliser in their 1-1 draw at Nice to stay in touch with Lorient, on the fringes of the top six despite a loss at Brest.
SOULEYMANE CAMARA (Montpellier)
The Senegal international was on target with the second clinching goal - his fifth of the campaign - as Montpellier kept up their strong start with a 2-0 home success over Nancy which left them in second spot just three points off leaders PSG.
GERMANY
JOEL MATIP (Schalke 04)
The Cameroon midfielder played the full 90 minutes and had some good touches in the Royal Blues' 3-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday which put his club second in the German league and four points behind leaders Bayern Munich. A controversial goal by Spain striker Raul was followed up by two from Dutch centre-forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as the hosts ran out comfortable winners. The 20-year-old Matip has become a regular fixture in the Schalke side, playing in nine of his team's 11 league games this season, and has been used recently as a defender, partnering Greece's Kyriakos Papadopoulos at centre-back.
ITALY
RODNEY STRASSER (Lecce)
The Liberia midfielder made a decisive impact in the bottom of the table clash against Novara but couldn't help his side to victory. Strasser rose like a salmon to plant a powerful header from Juan Cuadrado's cross into the top corner on 31 minutes to give Lecce the lead but Novara had equalised from the penalty-spot before half-time. Strasser had a chance to give Lecce victory in the second half but was denied by goalkeeper Alberto Fontana.
DJAMEL MESBAH (Lecce)
While his Liberian team-mate was grabbing the headlines for the right reasons, the Algerian was doing so for the wrong ones. Mesbah it was who brought down Marco Rigoni to give away the penalty that saw Novara equalise just before half-time and cost his team a victory. Lecce, like Novara, remain in the bottom three.
KWADWO ASAMOAH (Udinese)
The Ghana midfielder had another energetic game in the heart of the Udinese team and could even have got on the scoresheet. He was presented with an excellent chance on the edge of the box in the first half but his shot was too close to goalkeeper Alexandros Tzorvas. He almost created a chance late on for Udinese to snatch a clinching second after some determined running only for his team-mates to undo his good work. Udinese stayed in second place after a 1-0 win over Palermo.
SPAIN
KOFFI ROMARIC (Espanyol)
The Ivory Coast midfielder was unfortunate during Espayol's game with Malaga. At 1-1 in the second half a thunderous drive seemed to hit the Espanyol midfielder in the face but referee Carlos Delgado awarded the home team a spot-kick that Antonio Galdeano 'Apono' converted to give Malaga a 2-1 victory. Romaric left the pitch substituted minutes later with what appeared to be a swollen eye from the impact of the shot.
AROUNA KONE (Levante)
Fellow Ivorian was also on a losing side on Sunday, with Levante suffering their first defeat of the season, 2-0 away to Osasuna, that knocked the club off the top of La Liga. Played as a lone striker Kone lacked support and found it difficult to do anything to change the course of the game. One second-half chance that fell to him saw him shoot just wide from a tight angle on the left.
IBRAHIMA BALDE (Osasuna)
The Senagalese striker Balde started only his third game for Kone's opponents Osasuna and played the full 90 minutes in their 2-0 victory. This comes after grabbing two goals in midweek in Osasuna's 2-2 draw away to Getafe.
