The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Moderate Party of Sweden have rededicated themselves to enhancing their ties and mutual cooperation.
In line with this, the National Chairman of NPP, Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, and the former National Chairman and Honorary Chairman of Democratic Union of Africa, Mr Peter Mac Manu were invited to the congress of the Moderate party at Orebro-Sweden by of Mr Fredrik Reinfeldt, the Prime Minister of Sweden and Leader of Moderate Party.
The congress set the tone for the Moderate party's preparation for next Swedish elections in 2014.
The party led the centre-right alliance that won the Swedish elections in 2010.
The Moderate party is a centre-right, liberal conservative party and is a member of the International Democratic Union(IDU) of which the NPP is also a member. The two parties are co-operating in such areas as political campaigning, party organization, women and youth training.
The NPP delegation had fringe meetings with Ms. Gunilla Carlson, Swedish Minister for International Co-operation and was also briefed by Mr Tobias Billstrom, the Swedish Minister for Migration and Asylum policy. They have since returned home.
