A fatal accident near Konongo on the Accra-Kumasi highway Thursday morning has claimed 21 lives with many others seriously injured.
The accident was said to have occurred about 3am.
The Police at Konongo who confirmed the accident said it involved two buses, a Grandbird Bus and An Executive bus belonging to OA Limited.
The police said a lot of people were dead and that about 17 bodies were picked from the accident scene. So far 20 bodies have been deposited at private mortuary at Yaakwei while one is at Juaso.
The injured were sent to the Konongo Government Hospital from where some of them were referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
The police officers are still cutting through the wreckage to pull out dead bodies and injured persons.
