The NPP 2012 Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has congratulate Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. He added, “it is the hope of the NPP that the one month of spiritual engagement and intercessory prayer would spur us on to higher heights of achievement and economic and political fulfillment.”

In a statement, he said, “I send you best wishes, and by extension all Muslims across the world, as you celebrate the annual Eid al-Fitr festival.”

“As a people of Abrahamic faiths, both Christians and Muslims share a common bond of devotion and commitment to God. We have a deep respect for your commitment to the ideals of God and His word. The Eid al-Fitr celebration commemorates the end of Ramadan, a period of intense devotion and reflection a time when Muslims fast during the day and perform prayers at night, reciting and listening to the entire Quran over the course of the month. I am confident that this intense period of devotion has inspired in you a commitment not only to God but also to country,” he stated..

He further said that “we believe that the intense flow of barakat (divine grace) that this one month of spiritual exercise has engendered will trigger a respect for neighbour and country that will enable us all as God’s servants to join hands in the difficult task of nation building. I urge you to continue to continually demonstrate a sense of unity and oneness in the years ahead.”

Meanwhile, at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons this evening, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will outline his vision for Ghana in a speech at the inaugural Liberty Lecture organised by the Danquah Institute.

This will be Nana Addo’s first major policy statement on Ghanaian soil since his election as NPP flag bearer in August 2010. The policy statement is on the theme: “Building a Society of Opportunities.”

The Guest of Honour for the event is a former President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor
